“Drug plane landings are really and truly annoying” – Chester Williams
According to ComPol Williams, the Joint Intelligence Operations Center, J.I.O.C., was following several tracks on Tuesday night. Fortunately, none of those airplanes landed in Belize.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police, Belize Police Department
“These drug plane landings are really and truly annoying, it’s a nightly occurrence. Last night we had two tracks that were coming our way, one actually crash landed in Honduras and the other came into our airspace. It circled the Spanish Lookout area as if it was going to land there, but again we had our presence in that particular area. I don’t know if they knew or found out that we were there and they eventually continued on and we were made to understand that it went and landed in Mexico. So, while yes, the people may criticize us for those that do land, every night or almost on a nightly basis, through our efforts we are preventing these planes from landing within our borders and certainly I call upon the Belizeans to continue to be active. You see these low-flying aircrafts at night time, you see them circling your area, let us know and then we will certainly do what we can to move into the area as quickly as we possibly can to intercept, should the plane land within our country.”
