Belize High School Students Attend Virtual Summit of the Americas
Seven students from Belize High School are joining their counterparts from around this hemisphere for this year’s HACIA Democracy Summit. HACIA is a youth simulation of the Organization of the American States, O.A.S. The event, founded by Harvard University, gives students the opportunity to discuss real world events and to learn parliamentary procedures. Held virtually again this year due to the pandemic, during the opening ceremonies today featured the former president of Peru, Francisco Sargasti. Countries being represented at HACIA this year include Belize, Nicaragua, Honduras, Panama, Brazil, Guatemala, and the United States. This is the ninth year Belize High School students have practiced their debating skills and presented on issues of global importance to young people. Representing B.H.S. this year are Lucia Sanchez, Noah Beaumont, Daniel Sharp, Tristan Bradley, Roxannae Medina, Annie Nunez, and Nathan Sharp.
