Mexican cooperation to expand

The Mexican government will be assisting Belize with even more educational and cultural programs as well as expanding its cooperation in the areas of human development, the environment, agriculture and fisheries. Today meetings were held in Belmopan between Ambassador Jorge Alberto Lozoya of the Mexican Institute for International Cooperation, Ambassador Marco Antonio Alcazar of the Commission for the Cooperation of Central America and the Caribbean and Permanent Secretaries and Directors of several ministries. These included the Ministries of Agriculture and Fisheries, Human Development, Natural Resources, Rural Development and Culture, Education and Sports. David Gibson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs co-chaired the meeting with Ambassador Lozoya. Projects in various fields were analyzed to determine how these could be further enhanced. New initiatives were also proposed. Currently there are over forty projects being carried out with Mexican support including the training of teachers, technical assistance to C.E.T., a popular scholarship program as well as agriculture and fisheries projects.
