Fire Victim Reportedly Beaten

Kenneth Mortis

Lincoln Vaughan’s frightening ordeal was only compounded following the fire. Neighbors in the area reportedly attacked him. Investigators are now trying to piece the puzzle together, as they seek to determine if the physical attack on the elderly man had anything to do with the house fire.

“We gathered that as well. We know that he sustained damage to his nose. He had a swelling on his face. It is a very complicated situation, because what threat could a sixty-seven-year-old pose to the community? I was made to understand he is well known by the neighbors in the Jasmine Street area. For whatever reasons, these characters inflicted bodily harm on him that is something we are still trying to determine. We spent almost a majority of Saturday morning trying to gather as much information as we can. However, it is not something that anyone wants to come out outright and say this is what we figure or what we know or believe. These are the types of situations that leave us in a limbo and we just have to try and put pieces together and see what we can come up with. We still need to figure out the reason why and the motive behind the beating.”
