Construction worker remanded for robbing fruit vendor
In other court news, a construction worker has been remanded to prison, accused of robbing a fruit vendor. This morning twenty year old Cornel Gomez pleaded not guilty to the crime of Robbery in Magistrate’s Court, but because the offence in question was committed with a firearm, he was not granted bail. Gomez was instead remanded into custody until his next court date on April seventh. On February seventeenth, nineteen year old Gustavo Eraco reported to police that he was pushing his fruit cart on Neal Pen Road when a young man approached and ordered fifty cent oranges and fifty cent bananas. Eraco said that as he was getting the fruits another youth approached, cranked a pistol, and placed the nozzle to the side of his body. The young man who ordered the fruits then pushed his hands into Eraco’s pants pocket and stole a hundred and thirty dollars.
