Did Indian Creek Cancellation Cause Hard Feelings?

Pablo Makin

Is there tension among the Mayas of the South as a result of last week’s cancellation of the Royal couple’s first tour at Indian Creek? Indeed there may be some hard feelings between two factions in Indian Creek. Pablo Makin and his family did not get to meet the Duke and Duchess because a small group of people protested last Thursday against the Royal visit to the village, ostensibly over a land dispute between them and an N.G.O. of which Prince William is a patron. Makin told News Five that the protest was staged by members of only three families in the village and that they did so with inaccurate information. In addition, he feels they were motivated by a sense of envy.

“The rumours that I hear that when this royal person, the prince will come, they say that he is going to buy the land. The land that they are talking about is over this side on the next road side. That’s the land that Belize Lodge and Excursion uses to work with, but that was just a bad news they’re creating, which is not true. I don’t know if this prince is going to buy a piece of land this side. I don’t know. They were so jealous against Makins.”
