National Climate Change Gender Action Plan Introduced
Today, Belize’s National Climate Change Gender Action plan was unveiled by the National Climate Change Office. The process has been ongoing for some time because the impacts of climate change are felt by everyone, so there must be inclusive representation in the immediate and long-term strategy for different groups. Knowledge, values and nature-based solutions were considered in the implementation of climate change policies at all levels. Chief Climate Change Officer Doctor Lennox Gladden speaks to the significance.

“Gender mainstreaming, gender responsiveness must be an integral part to climate policy and action. This is what we are trying to achieve through this process, through the climate change gender action plan. In current discussions, we are trying to now not only have certain strategies, terms assessment in place, but we want to be able to actually operationalise these strategies further for sustainability and effectiveness.”
