COVID Protocols for U.D.P. Leadership Convention
With quarantine regulations and safety protocols soon to be completely lifted as a result of the low positivity rate for COVID-19, will the election process be any different on Sunday? U.D.P. Chairman Michael Peyrefitte breaks down the format at Bird’s Isle, saying that it will be similar to the Recall Convention last July.
Michael Peyrefitte, Chairman, U.D.P.
“If you remember the recall convention, this convention should not be any different than that. It should look the same. Three tables, five hundred and sixteen people fairly divided into an even three, about two hundred voters per box. Each candidate will have their scrutineers there; you have the party officials there overseeing the process. People will come in, vote and leave. The only time we want people to be standing still is when they are waiting in line to vote. But the minute you hit the bridge that leads to the island, you keep moving with a purpose, you line up to vote, you vote, you leave. That’s what should happen. It starts at ten, finishes at two for regular delegates and then if there are any alternates then they will vote between two and three. And with that, we should have a fairly good idea of who is victorious by about four o’clock, four-thirty, I am hoping.”
