April Training for Educators Working With Returning Students
C.E.O. Maheia says the Education Uplifment Project also includes additional training for teachers and administrators who will be working with students who dropped out over the last two years. As they return under the free education program, the needs will be diverse.

“Starting next month we begin a series of workshops, training sessions, we are beginning with the administrators of the schools, the principals, vice principals, board members. We start with them and the goal is to really make this be something that we are beginning with you and then it spreads out so that we can engage the community of the school. There are lots of layers here. We are looking at fees, the economics of it. We are looking at the learning. We also have to look at the curriculum needs and the external things, things like transportation and mental health needs of these communities. So, we have a lot of different ideas for ways to expand the reach, make this be more than just putting a band-aid on this cut, trying to see how we can solve and resolve a lot of issues that are happening.”
