UB still getting $1.5 million increase in subvention
This past Wednesday the Student Government of the University of Belize’s City campus hosted a press conference to demand an increase of five million dollars in government subventions to the university in the new 2009/2010 budget. According to Student Body President Moses Sulph, the additional monies are needed for infrastructural development. Today the Ministry of Education weighed in on UB’s demand saying that the new Board and Administration were at work on a long term plan to strengthen and improve the institution. And According to M.O.E. the university will benefit from a one point five million dollar increase in the subvention, falling short from the five million dollars on demand.
