A man was shot to death and his wife chopped with a machete in their shop on Monday night. Today police made several arrests and say they are bent on dismantling a ring of criminals which planned and executed the terror on Jasmin Street.

The police have made their first arrests in the robbery and murder of Lee Yun Chong, a Chinese businessman of Jasmin Street. Elvis Rosado, Jerry Usher and Ashton Belgrave were taken into custody shortly after eyewitnesses told the police that they saw the young men moments after the shooting on Monday night.

“At this time I wouldn’t want to go down in depth in evidence but we actually have witnesses who saw these guys, these fellows leave. They left the immediate location immediately after the shooting.”

Q: “At this time do you all know who actually shot Mr. Chong?”

A.I.P. Simeon Alvarez

“Well at this time we cannot say which one of them actually did the shooting but the evidence is there that all three were seen running from the location immediately after the shooting took place.”

While the men have been charged for the murder, A.I.P. Simeon Alvarez, Head of C.I.B. says they have not yet put away the case file since they believe the crime was committed by a gang.

“Well we still have Alex Goff in custody; we still have Carlos Escalante. By today we will know whether they will be charged or released as the investigation continues. Then if their names come up very strong in this case then we will deal with them in the same fashion.”

Meanwhile Kenrick Reneau remains at large. The police are asking the public’s assistance in locating him.
