Suspect in Malic murder picked up again
Forty year old mechanic Michael Williams has been picked up once again for questioning in connection with the murder of twelve year old Jackie Fern Malic. The child disappeared last Monday and her body was found two days later on a feeder road near mile 8 on the Western Highway. This evening police confirmed that Williams was taken into custody this afternoon. He was questioned by police on the day Malic disappeared after reports the child had been seen with him that morning. He was picked up again after her body was found but released 72 hours later because of insufficient evidence. In another case, Williams appeared in Magistrate’s Court yesterday to answer to a charge of indecent assault against a minor. The incident occurred on January twenty fifth, 1998. A twelve year old girl is alleging that Williams offered her a ride home from school in a Bronco. The child says on the way home Williams touched her breast, her legs and attempted to touch her private parts but she managed to escape and immediately reported the matter to police. Williams was arrested and charged with indecent assault on January twenty-seventh 1998. Williams told the court that his hand slipped off the steering wheel when he was driving and he did not intentionally touch the minor. The case has been adjourned until April ninth. He is being represented by Attorney Kirk Anderson.
