New Building for Louisiana Government School
A new two storey school building with six classrooms, a fully equipped computer lab, and a special education centre is now a highlight feature of the Louisiana Government School Compound in Orange Walk. The Ministry of Education in partnership with the Belize Social Investment Fund (B.S.I.F.) officially inaugurated the building on Thursday. The building also includes offices, bathrooms and storage spaces, and an access ramp to provide ease of access to the first floor for people with disabilities. As part of the project, provisions were also made for furniture in the form of desks, tables and chairs, along with musical instruments and other resources for the special education centre, and pedagogical training for the entire staff of Louisiana Government School. The cost of the project totaled one million three hundred thousand dollars. The funding was made possible through the Caribbean Development Bank’s Basic Needs Trust Fund and the Government of Belize.
