Two Hattieville escapees caught in Belize City

Story Picture
Everyone was alarmed when it was discovered that two convicted criminals Earl Ramos and Lucius Myers had escaped from Hattieville Prison last night. C.I.B. officials say prison officer Sebastian Wewe reported a female officer had seen two men running from the boot camp around 9:45. Wewe says he discovered the padlock of the booth camp had been opened and two of the trustees were missing. Earl Ramos had been serving a nine year sentence for robbery, aggravated assault and wounding. Lucius Myers was serving a six year sentence for robbery and aggravated assault. Head of the Criminal Investigations Branch told us how these escapees were caught in Belize City.

A.I.P. Simeon Alvarez, Head of C.I.B.

“It was somewhere around 1:30 p.m. that we received information that the escapees were at number 25 Zericote Street. As a result of that a party of detectives under the command of Inspector Salazar departed to that location where they found Lucius Myers and Earl Ramos. With them at the time was the owner of the house Lester “Pinti” Gill. He along with the two inmates will be charged.”

This evening Earl Ramos and Lucius Myers were taken to Magistrate’s Court and both pleaded guilty to escape. They were given an additional two year sentence. Lester Gill pleaded not guilty today in Magistrate’s Court and has been remanded to the Hattieville Prison until April first.
