Illegal cultivation found near Sarstoon
Earlier this month two Guatemalans were deported after illegally cultivating land in the Chiquibul National Park. This week the Ministry of National Security has announced another incident of cultivation on Belizean territory, this time near the Sarstoon River. The Ministry says on March ninth a B.D.F. patrol discovered two plantations of beans and corn, which they estimated to be about three weeks old. Although no one was found in the area, which is located in the Cadenas area, the Commander of the Guatemalan Armed Forces Headquarters M.Z.23 was informed and both fields were destroyed.
