Child admits she lied about sexual assault
Charges have been dismissed against a man whose stepdaughter reported he tried to have sex with her. News Five was told yesterday by the Criminal Investigations Branch that thirty-four year old Jose Martin Flores, had been charged in connection with the incident on March 19th. However, in Magistrate’s Court yesterday Magistrate Herbert Lord dismissed the case after the girl admitted she had lied. A medical examination also failed to reveal any signs of sexual assault. This morning Jose Martin Flores visited News Five and told us he never attempted to have sex with his stepdaughter but had punished the little girl by preventing her from watching TV because of something she did at home while her mother wasn’t there. After the incident she went to the Raccoon Street Police Station and claimed her stepfather had molested her. Flores told us he believes she made up the story because she does not like him for her mother. He characterized her as “a problem child”. Sources tell News Five, however, that the incident, which led to the little girl making up the story, was more serious than her simply being denied TV viewing. We were told Flores beat the girl after she failed to return home with money he won playing Boledo.
