P.M. meets with Bill Clinton
Prime Minister Said Musa met today with U.S. President Bill Clinton in Antigua, Guatemala at a regional leaders summit. The U.S. president concluded a four-day tour of the region to examine the damage from Hurricane Mitch and discuss an aid package of over six million U.S. dollars for the affected countries. Today’s summit focused on the control of illegal immigration to the U.S. and improving the region’s economies. According to the government press office, Belize’s Prime Minister will use this opportunity to strengthen ties between the U.S. and Belize and promote cooperation, particularly in tourism and anti-drug trafficking efforts. The Prime Minister is accompanied by the Minister of National Security Jorge Espat, Belize’s Ambassador to Central America Mike Mena, Ambassador of Belize to Mexico Salvador Figueroa and the P.S. in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs David Gibson.
