Grijalva and the U.D.P. Delivers Six Thousand Signatures in Referendum Petition
Denny Grijalva is the U.D.P. Caretaker for Orange Walk Central, and he is also a pastor, a role only a few know him for. Today, he was among the group of church leaders who delivered the signed petitions to the Governor General. He was acting not only as a representative of the church, but also as a representative for twenty U.D.P. caretakers that are also in support of holding a referendum. As for Grijalva’s personal view, if a referendum is to be held, he says he will vote against the legalization of marijuana in Belize.

“Well as you know, our participation is that we brought close to six thousand, we can say six thousand to the twenty thousand. There is a group of us within the U.D.P. that we go to church, so as members of different churches we came together and said alright, let’s work together and see how we can support the churches. Our Party already did a press release saying we support the referendum.”
“Have you taken a position on the legalization of marijuana yourself?”

“Well I am against it, and when the thing comes I will vote no. that is my position.”
