Enrique Martinez & Sons burglarized; security guard robbed
The latest business to become a victim of the robbery spree in the city is Enrique Martinez and Sons Limited on the Northern Highway. At around ten on Wednesday night AAA security guard, thirty-five year old Jean Ovelt Choune who was stationed at the business, was ambushed by four armed men who came from behind the building. Choune was hit twice in the head, causing a cut wound to the back of his head and was then blindfolded, tied up and robbed of a hundred dollars and his cell phone. He managed to free himself about two hours later and called his employer, who found him lying behind a park bench used by the staff for lunch. Checks of the building revealed that the thieves made their way inside by making a hole in the bathroom wall with a mall, which was left behind on the scene. Once inside, the burglars stole one thousand eighty dollars in cash, but were unable to get anything else out of the building. There is suspicion that it might have been an inside job because the culprits knew exactly where to find the monies, which are stored away at night. The damage to the building was estimated at three thousand dollars, placing the loss to the business at a total of four thousand eighty dollars.
