Tubal Institute teacher guilty of Burglary
He should know right from wrong and was expected to be at school but tonight a teacher is behind bars after he pleaded guilty to burglary. Fifty-one year old Stephen O’Brien, also known as “O.B.”, taught arts and craft at Tubal Institute, a boys’ school in Ladyville. But he will now spend three years in prison for breaking into a house in Burrell Boom Village. The incident occurred around nine-twenty on Monday morning at a concrete bungalow house. The complainant, twenty-one year old Erneldo Cruz, told police that he was sitting in the living room of his mother-in-law’s house when he heard a noise coming from the bedroom. Cruz said when he checked, he saw O’Brien with a DVD player in his hand. O’Brien dropped the DVD player and the men struggled but O’Brien managed to escape. Cruz said when he made further checks he saw that three glass louvers from one of the windows of the bedroom was removed. Police detained O’Brien the following day.
