Belize Bank offers local credit card

The Belize Bank is now offering Visa cards for local use. According to the bank, the card, identical to their international Visa and Mastercards, is valid only in Belize and the holder is billed in Belize dollars. You don’t necessarily have to have an account with the Belize Bank to apply for the local card and the credit limit will be separate from any international credit cards or other loans you may have. The introductory interest rate is 1.5 percent monthly or 18 percent a year until September thirtieth. After that the rate is two percent a month or twenty-four percent a year. The annual membership fee of fifty dollars will be waived if you apply before May thirty first. For more information or to apply, contact any Belize Bank branch.
