Keep the Umbrella Handy; More Rain to Come
But while the downpour has subsided for the latter part of today, Young advises us along the coast and in southern Belize to keep those raincoats and umbrellas handy because there’s more rain to come on Thursday and quite likely an early start of the rainy season for this year.
Shanea Young, Forecaster, National Meteorological Service
“Thursday and Friday, especially in the south again, there is also expected to be an increase of rainfall affecting mostly southern and some coastal areas. Currently, the inland areas of country aren’t showing any significant increase, going into this weekend, but definitely over the south and coastal areas can expect an increase of rainfall starting from Thursday and going into the weekend. If the rainfalls continue over the next few days, especially in the areas that have received rainfall so far, we will declare the rainy season officially started without having to wait for the first of June. But so far it has been going along the trend of an early start of the rainy season for 2022.”
