UDP Summons Member before Ethics Committee
Delroy Cuthkelvin, a card-carrying member of the U.D.P., is at odds with his party and will likely be facing its Ethics Committee in the days ahead. Cuthkelvin has been highly critical of Party Leader Moses “Shyne” Barrow in a number of social media advertisements, since his victory at the leadership convention earlier this year. Ashton McKenzie, a member of the U.D.P.’s Central Executive, lodged a complaint against Cuthkelvin to Chairman Michael Peyrefitte. The allegation against Cuthkelvin is that he has been “engaging in behavior detrimental to the U.D.P.” All indications are that Cuthkelvin does not intend to go before an Ethics Committee. He declined comment when we reached out to him today, but U.D.P Chairman Peyrefitte says the matter is now in the hands of the Ethics Committee.
Michael Peyrefitte, Chairman, UDP
“There was an official complaint made by a Central Executive Member, Ashton McKenzie to me. By constitution of the UDP I passed that on Central Executive for them to determine whether or not they want to have the matter referred to the Executive Committee to call in Mr. Cuthkelvin and have a hearing and make a decision as to what they want to do with him if anything. That is what happened and we are in the process of doing that. It is now in the hands of the Ethics Committee and they will be the ones to handling that from here on out.”
