New City Manager appointed

Twenty-four year old Marcia Mahler is Belize City’s new City Manager. Mahler, who received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing and a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Public Personnel Management from Valdosta State University, told News Five that she will work closely with the council to improve its efficiency.

“I am very excited to serve the city. It’s a very challenging job because I had some experience already. I had prior internship with local government while studying public administration in Valdosta. So right now it’s a big challenge to me and I must make sure that the council is running the way it should and serving the people of Belize.

My services will be in the area of expertise which is public administration which falls under local government. I am here to actually do the city planning and city development which is here to improve the efficiency of the public service for the best value for those people who are paying their tax dollars to us.”

Mahler says that she stands ready to answer any questions and concerns about the city.
