The incident is being investigated by the Belize Police Department and details of what transpired, based on the account given to investigators, are being reviewed. Here’s what Communications Director Fitzroy Yearwood told reporters earlier today.
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Officer, Belize Police Department
“He was at the neighbor’s house playing and the mother and father were at home when they heard a loud scream. They are saying that when they went over there, they saw the mother of the house holding the baby in her hand, where she explained that he put some sort of wire into an outlet. The baby was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead. When our investigators went to the scene, this wire that was allegedly used was found somewhere at the back of the house. One, we are investigating why they removed something that they claimed may have cost this child his life. And so, for me to go in-depth, I would have to get their final findings.”
