Jeffrey Buller is Executed During Deadly 6th Street Attack
On Friday night, a barrage of gunshots rang out on 6th Street in front of a Chinese restaurant where two young men had gone to purchase food. It is believed that the men were trailed to that location and while waiting in their vehicle for the food to be prepared, someone opened fire on them, injuring twenty-eight-year-old Akeem Bermudez and killing twenty-six-year-old Jeffrey Buller. Both men are associated with a well-known Belize City gang, despite the fact that police are treating the deadly shooting as an isolated incident.
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Officer, Belize Police Department
“Police responded to a scene on 6th Street near a Chinese restaurant, but when they arrived there, Buller was already transported to the KHMH A&E. We know that Buller and another male person, [Akeem] Bermudez were at a restaurant on 6th Street where they ordered food and were approached by a gunman who fired several shots in their direction, causing several body injuries to Buller. I know that Bermudez was also hit but not life threatening and Buller succumbed to his injuries a few minutes later at the KHMH.”

“Does the police believe that this murder was gang-related, given that Mr. Buller is no stranger to the law…”
Fitzroy Yearwood
“What we know so far, we have two persons detained. They are saying that it was an isolated incident, not gang related; something that transpired between Buller and these two parties earlier that night and it would appear that these persons may have followed them and made good on their target.”

“Are these two persons known to police?”
Fitzroy Yearwood
“Like I said, we have them detained. As soon as I am able to give out their identity, I will make all that known to you.”
