Warrant issued for B.T.L. cashier

A warrant has been issued for Harrison Collins, the B.T.L. cashier who had been held for questioning following the disappearance of over sixty-two thousand dollars in cash, checks and phone cards from the Church Street office last week. Head of C.I.B. Simeon Alvarez told News Five Collins had been released because he had been held for seventy-two hours, but shortly after that Alvarez says information came in which led police to search an abandoned house on New Road. They found some phone cards which they believe were stolen from the company. After that they visited a feeder road off mile eight on the Western Highway where they found an area where it appeared documents had been burned. A lock from one of the deposit bags was also found at the scene. A key for the lock was later found in Orange Walk. Alvarez declined to say how they linked the physical evidence to Collins. Just how the money was taken out of the B.T.L. office, or if he was operating with assistance from someone outside is still not clear. Alvarez says, however, that they believe Collins simply walked out of the B.T.L. office with the knapsack he always carries. When apprehended he will be charged with theft.
