Investigation into Possible Human Trafficking Ring in Belize.

Major Ramirez says the Police Department and the Belize Defense Force are conducting investigations to determine if any additional law enforcement officers are involved in human trafficking activities. If found, those persons would be brought to justice says Major Ramirez.

“If there are additional people from the security force, from the Belize Defense Force specifically, then we find out and they will be brought against justice. It is not something that we condone, zero tolerance when it comes to this. We don’t condone, we help out all the agencies, and when we find out rouge individuals that are working for these criminal organizations then we need to bring them to justice. They are not a representation of the BDF. It is something I must repeat, it is not something that represents the BDF. We are always here to help our population, to support the agencies, and that is something that commanders and the Ministry are always keen to mention to us that we need to be working on.”
