The Belize Fund for a Sustainable Future (B.F.S.F.) has appointed its Board of Directors. Established following the signing of the Belize Blue Bond debt conversion agreement, the fund will allocate an estimated three hundred and sixty million dollars for marine conservation in Belize over the next twenty years. BFSF is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of nine members. Five are non-government members and four are government members. The non-government members include Elmer Rodriquez from the Belize Fisheries Council, Joel Verde from the Belize Network of NGOs, Stewart Krohn from the Belize Tourism Industry Association, Julie Robinson from The Nature Conservancy, and Vincent Palacio, the President of the University of Belize. The government members are Kennedy Carillo from the Ministry of Blue Economy, Hanna Martinez from the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Rene Nunez from the Ministry of Finance, and Lindsay Garbutt, a bipartisan representative. C.E.O. in the Ministry of Blue Economy, Kennedy Carillo is the Chairperson of BFSF, while Joel Verde is the Board Director. The newly appointed Board of Directors held its first Board meeting on April twenty second.
