Another Chinese shopkeeper shot by robbers

Story Picture
Around nine thirty this morning, two young men walked down Iguana Street and approached the New Faw Chinese shop at seventeen Iguana Street. Shortly after, neighbors say shots rang out but by the time everyone reached the store, the men were gone and they saw shopkeeper, twenty year old Cao Sai lying on the ground with gunshot wounds to his shoulder. According to the shop’s owner, the men approached and asked for cigarettes. But before he could hand over anything, the men, dressed in full black and wearing woolen caps over their heads, noticed Sai standing by the open door. That’s when police say the men pulled out a gun and fired at the young man. Police say after Sai was shot, one of the men then ran into the store, but they do not know at this time if anything was stolen. Sai was rushed to K.H.M.H. where he is reported to have undergone surgery. According to A.I.P. Simeon Alvarez, Head of C.I.B., they do not believe the shooting was an isolated case. Alvarez says they suspect the two men are also responsible for the hold up of four other Chinese establishments between Wednesday morning and today. A witness who did not wish to appear on camera told News Five about an incident involving Situ Shen around eight Wednesday night, at Brother’s Shop on the corner of Antelope and Rosalie Streets.

“He said three guys come and ask to buy one chips and he tell them, you have any money? He said right now I want all the money that you have. And he said he pulled out a nine millimeter, a size gun that he said he showed him. And he said he is coming right now and he run back to some part of the house. He said he said I am coming right now; I am going for the money. So the next one, there was only two of them in the shop, the first one he stand right outside the shop. So same time he went and haul, he said he was going to get another gun too. So the same time the guy run away, so I don’t know what went on afterwards.”

According to the Head of C.I.B., just before the shooting on Iguana Street, two men, wearing similar clothing approached a Chinese shop belonging to twenty-two year old Alex Cao on Raccoon Street extension. After pulling out a small handgun, the men demanded money. Cao apparently handed over seventy dollars in cash. Today Alvarez told News Five they have launched an intensive manhunt for suspects identified as Jeffrey Flowers and Ronald Cox. If anyone knows the whereabouts of these men, they are asked to inform the police station as soon as possible.
