Shemar Nunez Charged for Conspiracy to Commit Murder
Belize City police have arrested and charged Shemar Nunez in connection with the Father’s Day murder of Benjamin Hyde Sr. The forty-nine-year-old was gunned down as he rode a bicycle near the corners of East Canal and King Street on Sunday. In the wake of the incident, the police department has increased its presence on the south side, particularly in the Rocky Road neighborhood. Hyde was the father of a well-known street figure in that area and police have been on high alert to prevent any retaliation amid an ongoing gang feud.
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Officer, B.P.D.
“We have stepped up our patrols from last Sunday when we had that murder of Benjamin Hyde and I’ll take this opportunity to mention that we made an arrest also for conspiracy to commit murder. I know we haven’t made the arrest on the murder as yet, but we have arrested and charged Shemar Nunez for conspiracy to commit murder because investigators believe that they have enough evidence to bring him in front of the court for his involvement in what I would want to describe as a lay and wait murder that took place last Sunday, claiming the life of Benjamin Hyde Sr.”

“Is there a motive behind that murder, sir?”
Fitzroy Yearwood
“Well obviously, I believe that the investigators have motive at this time and soon as we bring the actual assailant in front of the court, I will be able to discuss motive with you.”
