Cho family to exhume body of Julian Cho

Story Picture
The widow of Mayan leader Julian Cho says she expects to receive a copy of the police pathologist’s autopsy report on her husband’s death. Maggie Cho issued a statement today saying the Minister of National Security Jorge Espat has directed the police to provide her with the copy which she will forward to an independent pathologist for a second opinion. She says this should be turned over to her by Friday. Maggie Cho says the family plans to exhume the body and that the Minister told her the government will provide technical assistance during the process. Mrs. Cho says although police tell her there is nothing new to report in their investigation, she is grateful to the Minister of National Security for expediting the investigation which has been very slow and frustrating for the family. Julian Cho’s body was found on the landing of a staircase to the roof at his home in Punta Gorda on December 1st. Reports were Cho had been drinking with some friends at a bar that night, but the family is alleging that he had received death threats from workers displaced by the suspension of the Malaysian Logging Concession. Cho had been instrumental in getting the operation shut down.
