B.T.B. moves offices
The Belize Tourist Board has relocated its executive offices to the Central Bank building on Gaol Lane. Director of Tourism Valerie Woods tells News Five the move is being carried out in phases with walk-in services such as information and cashier services still being offered at the North Front Street office until the move is complete. In a release issued today Minister of Tourism Mark Espat says rather than invest in the construction of a new headquarters for B.T.B. it was decided to use existing resources. In other B.T.B. news, Valerie Woods says the B.T.B. has met with members of the tourism industry and agreed to put the proposed cruise ship terminal and tourism village for the Fort George area on hold. Woods says the main concern was the lack of consultation of the private sector by the previous government as well as specific objections to the size and content of the Lugano proposal. B.T.B. has asked members of the private sector to submit their ideas to either B.T.B. or the Ministry for review.
