Library to hold rap contest
Budding musicians could get their big break, or at least the chance to be live on stage this week with the start of the National Library Service Rap Contest. The elimination round will be this Friday night at St. Mary’s Hall. Those who are selected will perform at the finals later this month at the Parish Hall. The Library service invites contestants to compose their rap based on one of the following themes: disasters and hurricanes, brain drain, reading versus watching television, importance of staying in school, books versus guns, violence is no solution, or abuse of children, women or anyone else. Application forms are available from any of the National Library Service’s branches countrywide and KREM Radio. Prizes donated so far include plane tickets from Groupo Taca and a computer from Fultech.
