Seventy-one year old man killed in traffic accident

A man is dead after a fatal traffic accident in Corozal Town yesterday morning. Seventy-one year old Gregorio Magaña of Ranchito Village was riding his bicycle around ten thirty when he was allegedly knocked down by a 1998 Land Rover with Guatemala license plates. Police say it was driven at the time by thirty-two year old Oliver Lieve. Magaña died on the spot. Lieve, who resides in Guatemala, is the Coordinator for a European Corporation. He was arraigned in court yesterday and was offered bail of five thousand dollars which he met. Lieve faces charges of manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving without due care and attention. He is to reappear in court on February twenty fifth.
