Little Girl Needs Help to Undergo Surgery
A five-year-old child needs your help in order to undergo a life-saving surgery at the K.H.M.H. Kimara McGregor was born with hydrocephalus, which is a build-up of water on the brain. Since then, she has needed a shunt to be inserted in her head to reduce the amount of pressure the fluid causes on her brain. But now, the shunt needs to be replaced and her mother says it could not have happened at a worse time.
Rebecca Nicholson, Mother of Kimara McGregor
“She started with swelling of her eyes and pain in her head, vomiting, loss of appetite. That was from the twelfth of June. I brought her to the hospital the fifteenth of June with the same symptoms; they sent us back home – they treat her for allergic reaction because apparently she drank pineapple juice and she kinda allergic to the pineapple. So when I brought her here they treat her for that, send us home and the following Sunday, the symptoms start to appear again. Took her to Medical, the same thing – treat her for the allergic reaction – had to come back here the following Monday. The symptoms were still there, complaining of the headache and everything. Now when I reach here, they started to treat her for mening an infection in the brain…any bacteria or virus or fungus.”
