Belize City youth hospitalized with chop wounds
A youth from the King’s Park area is in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after he received several chop wounds to his body. According to police Paul Anthony Jex was walking down Euphrates Avenue around six Monday evening when Anthony Peña and two other men began to pursue him. Jex is reported to have run into Tony’s Supermarket for safety but Peña and Roque Rosado followed him inside. There, it is reported, Peña pulled out a machete and chopped Jex on his left arm, upper back and back of the head. The police, however, did not have to go looking for Peña, as the young man walked into the police station this morning and turned himself in. According to the police, Jex told them that he was attacked for no apparent reason, but authorities believe that since Jex is no stranger to them, the man was probably attacked after a misunderstanding with Peña. Peña will be charged for attempted murder and aggravated assault. In the meantime both Rosado and a seventeen year old also reportedly involved in the incident remain at large.
