An Unsuccessful Attempt on Kenrick Gordon’s Life
An attempt on the life of Kenrick Gordon over the weekend, in the neighborhood of Lakeview Street, was thwarted by a police officer who was working a special assignment at an Asian place of business. When the firearm that a pair of gunmen attempted to shoot Gordon with snapped, the would-be assassins took off on foot. The following morning, another salvo of rounds were fired not far from where they tried to kill Gordon. A.S.P. Fitzroy Yearwood explains how police were able to prevent the attempt on his life.

“A police officer was working on special duty at a Chinese establishment when a grey Ford Escape arrived on the scene and two men armed with firearms alighted the vehicle when one tried to fire upon Kenrick Gordon. The firearm apparently snapped. The officer’s quick thinking, he managed to detain the driver of that vehicle. The men that were armed with the firearms made good their escape. One ran in the direction towards Rogers Stadium and the other ran somewhere in the Lakeview Street area. Police officers were following up on that incident where yesterday morning they heard what appeared to be gunshots fired somewhere in the Lakeview and Vernon street area. They responded and again these men eluded the officers, but a thorough search of the area ended up in the officers finding a nine millimeter pistol with a magazine with ammunition. This was labeled as found property, but we know who we are looking for this incident and we have since yesterday done several operations where we have seen several persons from that Mayflower [Street] area being detained.”
