Double Shooting In Belize City, One Confirmed Dead
Just before five this evening, reports spread like wildfire that a double homicide had been committed in the Saint Martin’s area of Belize City. News Five has confirmed that a lone gunman is believed to be the shooter in two incidents that occurred in proximity of each other; one person is confirmed dead, while another who was gravely injured was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for life-saving treatment. A News Five team has been at the scene on Amandala Drive. According to eyewitnesses, forty-two year old Darren Banks was on Ebony Street when he came under fire. Banks made an attempt to escape the gunman but he later fell in a drain on the corner of Ebony Street and Amandala Drive where he succumbed to the injuries he sustained. The gunman reportedly made a left unto Amandala Drive and then unto Vernon Street where he fired at a second individual. The second victim was rushed to the K.H.M.H. There have been several attempts made on Bank’s life. He has also been accused of a slew of crimes including murder, attempted murder. He has been a target in ongoing street rivalries.
