Leader of B.P.F. Supports Underlying Message in Book
Doctor Vernon’s book lays blame at the feet of politicians for perpetuating the bad habit of political handouts. But one political leader who was present at today’s launch of the book “Political Clientelism and Democracy in Belize from My Hand to Yours” told News Five that she endorses the book. Leader of the Belize People’s Front, Nancy Marin says she also does not support the concept of political handouts.

“It is an important book because I have felt very alone. When we started this struggle, this was the struggle. The struggle is not for power. The struggle is to break political clientelism. So this is the biggest hurdle that we have and it is a disease and Dr Vernon has indeed unmasked that disease that plagues our society. We have to form and strengthen the social safety nets that we have but I believe that it comes at a timely juncture in the history of our country because we are now embarking on this constitutional reform and I will be happily sitting there and I will have a hand in it. For the first time in the history of Belize third parties have been given a seat and I think this should be the bible for all of the people sitting there.”
