Tribunal against P.C. Trapp to Begin

P.C. Trapp

While we were with the Police Commissioner, the media asked for an update on the progress of the tribunal of Police Constable Alicia Trapp. She is the officer who went live on Facebook during the village council elections in Teakettle Village last month. Viewers will recall that Trapp had made allegations of assault against the Area Representative for Cayo North, Julius Espat during a verbal exchange on the day of the elections. But all that the police investigations have unearthed so far suggest that it was Trapp, not Espat, who had committed the assault. Espat has decided not to press charges, and subsequently only demanded, through his attorney, that Trapp apologize. But the Police Department proceeded with its own investigation against the police officer on grounds that she violated the department’s social media policy. Trapp also lawyered up and through her attorney, Orson Elrington, had warned the police department that if she was in any way penalized in a manner that suggests she was being victimized, that they would hear from him. Today, Commissioner Williams said the tribunal is about to begin.

“We are not going to be the threats of Mr. Elrington. Ms Trapp has been served with her disciplinary charges and that matter is before a tribunal. I am waiting now to see if Mr. OJ will take swift legal action. I believe it if were swift, the matter would have been before the courts already, but so far, we have not seen anything from him in respect to that particular incident and that tribunal will commence and we’ll see how it goes from there.”
