Preparation Underway for Return to Classrooms Nationwide
And, with no confirmed case of monkeypox in Belize, schools across the country are preparing to welcome returning students at the end of the month. Minister Fonseca also gave an update on how the preparation process has been coming along from his ministry’s end. Here is what he had to say.
Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education, Culture, Science & Technology
“I am never satisfied, I am never satisfied. I think we have a lot of work to do. But, we are doing the best we can. I think we have ensured we are engaged with all our stakeholders in education. Everybody understands we are coming out of very difficult and challenging period, that we have an absolute duty and obligation to double down even harder than ever before to ensure that these young people who are in our care and custody gets an opportunity to recover some of the lost learning they have lost over the past two years. And, as you all know, we are taking decisive steps to support that objective. I believe you were at the launch of the curriculum. That is a very important step in that process and many other initiatives or education upliftment projects on the Southside of Belize City.”
