James Adderley has sports

Good evening, I’m James Adderley and here’s throwing down another version of Sports Monday. The B.F.L. schedule this weekend brought about a battle for supremacy in the standings when undefeated Juventus of Orange Walk hosted the only 3 and 0 ball club in the second round: Sagitun of Mango Creek.
It’s the southern guys with the early scoring opportunity but this kind of launch won’t get past Charlie Slusher. Sagitun insists with this floater that gets Charlie Slusher to the air to make the save and it’s not without a price. This gets the defending champion busy but can you believe Marcelino Tun raises this ball over the crossbar from this distance. A few moments later Esteban Hall floats this center to Christopher Hendricks but the header sails over the crossbar. Talk about squandering an opportunity, well Christopher Hendricks fails to deliver from pointguard range.
Meanwhile folks the turf at the People’s Stadium needs urgent rolling because of dangerous potholes. The effect of a bounce on Charlie Slusher is good indication. We understand referee Ruperto Vicente is recommending that play be stopped on the pitch until the needed repairs have been implemented. Still at the half it’s a scoreless ball game.
For the first fifteen minutes after intermission neither team could mount anything serious until number twenty-two for Sagitun fired this left footer that gives Charlie Slusher a moment of worry that passed. A minute later Brent Burgess makes his move for the goal but a push too far remains the cry. At the other end this defense lapse by Hilberto Muschamp is forgiven by Dean Flowers. This spotkick from Freddie Tun… the ball floats to Dean Flowers who smashes with the head to beat Darren Hinds and give Juventus a 1-zip lead.
The champ could increase the lead when Hendricks sets table for Esteban Hall but his “poison joke” hisses outside the sticks. Meanwhile folks the pressure forces this altercation between Donnie Tun and number twenty-four of Sagitun for which both get chased off the field by Ruperto Vicente. Downfield this rebound to Benedict Lopez almost provides the equalizer for Sagitun but it’s only close for no cigars. In the final moment it’s just too much Juventus for the visitors from down south as the Orange Walk team posts the 1-zip big “W” to remain undefeated.
In other football scores over the weekend Belmopan Builders jolted high flying La Victoria 2-1, Southern United put a 2-1 hurt on Yabra down in P.G., Jube kept the Dangriga Jaguars pointless in a 3-0 finish out West and here at the M.C.C. Grounds Real Verdes held Acros to a 1-1 tie.
That it. I’m James Adderley. Jah over all.
