A Blood Appeal for Soldier Injured in Accident
It’s been exactly two weeks since Private Roxanne Hill, of the Belize Defence Force, lost her life in a road traffic accident on the George Price Highway near Cotton Tree Village. Ten other soldiers were injured in that accident. Tonight, Brigadier General Azariel Loria joined the family in making an appeal for blood for one of the soldiers who remain hospitalised at this time and is in need of a surgery. Cory Martells remains hospitalized at the K.H.M.H. and is in need of a blood donation for his blood type, AB Negative.
Brigadier General Azariel Loria, Commander, B.D.F.
“All the other soldiers that were involved in that accident are out; have been released from the hospital. It is only one that has a fracture femur or his leg, he needs surgery and for the surgery to take place, he needs eight or so pints of blood. But the type of blood that he requires is the very rare type. We have a list of our soldiers in the B.D.F. which is not much. It is a rare type of blood. We have gotten four pints so far and we are asking anybody out there because we have maxed out the number of soldiers that have that type of blood to donate. So we are asking the public to come forth if they have that rare type of blood. He is a soldier in need and the type of blood is rare.”
