Belize City woman victim of random brutality
In crime news of a more violent nature a woman well known to those of us in the media was this morning the victim of what appears to be a brutal and random assault. Former B.C.B. marketing executive Anita Cheong was walking over the Pound Yard Bridge this morning around seven thirty when a man, completely unknown to her, approached and slammed her across the head with a pint bottle. Cheong collapsed to the ground with blood pouring from her wound and, after being assisted by a nearby traffic warden, was taken in a taxi to K.H.M.H. Her wounds were stitched up and she was released from the hospital several hours later. Police have detained a suspect in the bizarre crime but have not yet released his name.
