Seven arrested for illegal boledo
Like prostitution, it is an illegal activity, but the selling of unofficial boledo lottery has traditionally been ignored by law enforcement authorities. No longer. On Sunday police swooped down on seven Belize City business establishments and arrested six men and one woman for the offence of selling illegal lottery. The primary victim in the otherwise victimless crime is the government of Belize, which loses the revenue it would normally receive from the sale of “official” lottery tickets. The majority of those charged were Chinese shopkeepers.
