N.D.A.C.C. holds first meeting
The newly formed National Drug Abuse Control Council held its first meeting today in Belize City. Chairman Jules Vasquez tells News Five that the sixteen member body’s first step will be creating a framework for a comprehensive plan to combat both drug trafficking and substance abuse.
Jules Vasquez, Chairman, N.D.A.C.C.
“The first thing we dealing with is that we don’t presently have a strategy and that’s our main task. That this 16 member council has to devise a national drug strategy which will provide a broad framework for legislatures, for law enforcement, for the community, for educators. Included in this framework has to be procedures to deal with supply control and demand control. Those are the two basic aspects.”
Vasquez says the council will meet two more times before the end of the year.
