Relief effort continues

In hurricane relief news, the Banana Growers Association of Big Creek announced today that it has sent twenty-five thousand dollars in food and medicines to the Honduran Embassy to be dispatched to Hurricane Victims.

Belize Sugar Industries Limited has also donated a total of ten thousand dollars to the relief effort. B.S.I. has given seven thousand to the Honduran Embassy and three thousand to the Belize Red Cross to be forwarded to Nicaragua.

The Belize Red Cross has also received a cash donation of three thousand dollars from the Janus Foundation, a non-profit environmental organization working at Maya Ranch in the Cayo District. Janus President Gabrielle Wollensak made the presentation on Monday to Delsyia Goff, the second vice-president of the Belize Red Cross.

Although being flooded out the residents of Crooked Tree along with students and teachers of Nazarene High School today made another generous donation to those affected most by Hurricane Mitch. The donation includes groceries, shoes, clothes and even money that will surely come in handy for those in Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador.
