Shooting on Armadillo Street Leaves Giovanni Williams Injured
Later on that same day, gunshots rang out a short distance away from the Raccoon Street Police Station. When the shooting subsided, thirty-six-year-old Giovanni Williams had been injured with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. While he is cooperating with investigators, a motive for the shooting remains unclear. Here’s more from the Deputy Commander of the National Crimes Investigation Branch.
Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero, Deputy Commander, H.N.C.I.B.
“On Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, police responded to shots fired at Armadillo Street in Belize City. Upon their arrival, they learnt that a male person had been taken to the KHMH for treatment. Police visited the KHMH where they found Giovanni Williams, thirty-six-years-old with gunshot injuries to the body. He’s listed in a stable condition at the hospital and an investigation into this matter continues at this time.”

“Sir, how concerning is it that this shooting incident took place one street away from the police department’s headquarters? Does that show that these gentlemen simply do not respect the police?”
Hilberto Romero
“We have patrols in that area, we know the type of area that is and as soon as shots were heard, the police responded but they found no one there. The victim was then taken to the K.H.M.H.”
