P.M. addresses citrus growers

The Prime Minister, Hon. Said Musa was the keynote speaker at the thirty first annual general meeting of the Citrus Growers Association, held on Saturday, November seventh. Prime Minister Musa pledged that citrus growers and workers “will be able to access credit through the re-established Small Farmers and Business Bank”.

“Citrus has been and remains one of the most productive industries in agriculture. Our government is committed to providing the necessary assistance and support to the citrus industry. Especially the citrus growers and workers to ensure that the industry continues to impact positively on the economic growth of Belize.”

Minister Musa says government has committed itself to allowing small growers to enjoy one hundred percent duty exemption on the purchase of diesel fuel in relation to grapefruit production. Through the Ministry of Natural Resources approximately one hundred and twenty five acres of land will be allocated to the Citrus Growers Association for institutional strengthening. The thirty first annual general meeting of the Citrus Growers Association was held at the Stann Creek Ecumenical College in Dangriga.
